Cinephiles of India Unite!

The long awaited Martin Scorsese film The Irishman had its world premiere at the 57th New York Film Festival on September 27, 2019 and is scheduled to receive a limited theatrical release in the US on November 1, 2019, followed by digital streaming on November 27, 2019 by Netflix.

Martin Scorsese is one of the greatest directors to have come out of the United States and has a large fan following all over the world including India. Unfortunately The Irishman, which is being hailed as one of the director's finest works and a mob movie masterpiece is not coming to a big screen in India.

Sign this petition requesting the producers and the distributors of The Irishman to get it released in Indian theatres.

Here’s what critics are saying about The Irishman

This is Scorsese’s least sentimental picture of mob life, and for that reason his most poignant.
– A.O. Scott, New York Times

It’s the film that, I think, a lot of us wanted to see from Scorsese… rippling with echoes of the director’s previous Mob films but [it] also takes us someplace bold and new.
– Owen Gleiberman, Variety

The Irishman is Martin Scorsese’s best crime movie since Goodfellas… an ideal match of filmmaker and source material.
– Eric Kohn, IndieWire

This is not Goodfellas. This is not Casino. This is Scorsese at his most reflective, crafting a masterwork that finds the filmmaker reflecting on everything he’s done, and what it’s all amounted to.
– Chris Evangelista, Slashfilm

With stories within stories within stories, The Irishman is a little like a mob movie version of Inception.
– Matt Singer, ScreenCrush

Joe Pesci emerges from retirement to give a superbly measured performance… the polar opposite of the lit-fuse firecrackers Pesci famously portrayed for Scorsese.
– David Rooney, Hollywood Reporter

When [Pesci] and De Niro are onscreen together, you believe in the power of art.
– A.O. Scott, New York Times

Netflix Unveils Release Plans for Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman"

The above link is to an article by Variety which states "Insiders believe that “The Irishman” will ultimately have a theatrical footprint similar to that of “Roma,” which screened in roughly 250 theaters in the U.S. and approximately 1,600 venues overseas.". It is unsure whether the 1,600 overseas venues include any Indian venues.

It is every cinephile's dream to watch a master's work on the big screen. Let us appeal to the makers of the film to give it a limited theatrical release in India as well.
