Many families watch Netflix together. There are many parents out there in the world that does not want to expose their children to vulgar language.  Movies and TV shows with bad language makes them unpleasant to watch for these families.  For families that don't want that type of language in their home need an option to filter them out.  Netflix is the largest streaming video service, and they should take the lead on this issue.  This option could be enabled in the language settings and have varying categories that could be set.  Once enabled, it can read the closed caption data and when the player sees the profanity, mute the volume and display the caption with the profanity substituted for another word.  TV Gaurdian works this way, and is very successful.
