Bring Back Girl Boss to Netflix for Season 2
Bring Back Girl Boss to Netflix for Season 2
The Issue
The Netflix Series Girl Boss, based loosely on the book by Sophia Amoruso, founder of reselling site Nasty Gal, was not renewed for a second season. With resale and reselling the hottest segment in the retail sector, the relevance of this show is more important than ever.
The problem with the show was it was written to appeal to a young audience who would be interested in the life of the 23-year-old lead. But the real audience for this show is the multi-millions of resellers around the world who can relate to the lead and learn from her journey to become one of the top-selling sites anywhere. Sophia Amoruso's story is legendary with a company with revenues reaching $100,000 million after only 5-6 years in business online. There was an unpredictable end for Nasty Gal and an impressive twist into Girl Boss Network, which she later sold in December 2019.
The way the Nasty Gal reselling empire was built is as important today as it was in 2008 with the launch of nastygalvintage.com, an independent site outside of ebay. The reselling community lacks a cohesiveness that results in pockets of individuals on youtube or with Podcasts, some with 100K followers, and so many more with smaller followings, working hard to educate the audiences on the tools and tricks of the trade.
It is our belief that the show would find a renewed audience with 40 million people out of work in the United States alone and almost 50% increases in sellers and sales on platforms like eBay and Poshmark since the Covid-19 situation put so many people out of work.
If you don't believe us, just ask the people who have signed this petition - created today by a full-time reseller and consignment shop owner - after binge-watching the show two times in a row this week and taking notes - and that is after having watched the series several times during its original debut.
