Nepal will reopen its international airport on August 17th. According to the Department of Immigration, all tourist must depart the country withing 15 days thereafter.

For the thousands of tourists who were stranded here when the airport closed and have remained here in Nepal throughout the lock-down, this means that their stay, and their support of the tourist and local economies, will soon be coming to an (uncertain) end.

With most countries around the world still under lock-down or facing extreme restrictions, and cases of Covid-19 on the rise globally, traveling anywhere right now is extremely difficult and dangerous. Many foreigners face great difficulties getting home right now, while others have no place to go and are faced with little or no (safe) travel options. They will be putting their own health and safety at risk, should they be required to leave.

Many, however, wish to stay in Nepal until the global situation improves and they can safely return to their homes and their loved ones. Many Nepalis would like them to remain here as well.

We, the undersigned, respectfully ask that the Department of Immigration and Nepali government follow the lead of countries around the world in making special accommodation in these unique and unprecedented times, and allow those tourists who were trapped here in Nepal these past months to remain here, both for their own safety as well as for the continued benefit that they will be providing to the struggling tourist and local economies.

पर्यटकहरूले चाँडै नै नेपाल छोड्नु पर्छ।
तिनीहरूलाई रहन मद्दत गर्नुहोस्!
नेपालले अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय एयरपोर्ट अगस्ट १ बाट खोल्दैछ। अध्यागमन विभागका अनुसार सबै पर्यटकहरू त्यस पछि १५ दिनसम्ममा देश छोड्नुपर्नेछ।
बन्दाबन्दीको क्रममा नेपालमा रहेका हजारौं पर्यटकहरूका लागि यसको अर्थ भनेको उनीहरूको बसाई, र उनीहरूको पर्यटन र स्थानीय अर्थव्यवस्थाको समर्थन, चाँडै नै एक अनिश्चितताको अन्त्य हुने छ।
विश्वका धेरै जसो देशहरूले अझै चरम प्रतिबन्धहरूको सामना गरिरहेको छ, र कोविड १९ विश्वव्यापी रूपमा बढेको छ, अहिले कहीँ पनि यात्रा गर्नु एकदम गाह्रो र खतरनाक छ। धेरै विदेशीहरूले घर पुग्नको लागि ठूलो चुनौतिहरूको सामना गरिरहेका छन्, जबकि अरूसँग जाने ठाउँ छैन र अलि कम वा कुनै (सुरक्षित) यात्रा विकल्पहरूको सामना गर्नुपर्‍यो। तिनीहरू सबै आफ्नो स्वास्थ्य र सुरक्षा जोखिममा रहनेछन्, यदि उनीहरूले छोड्नु पर्छ भने।
धेरै जसो पर्यटकहरू विश्वव्यापी अवस्था सुधार नभएसम्म नेपालमै बस्न चाहन्छन र उनीहरू सुरक्षित रूपमा घर र आफ्ना प्रियजनहरू भएको ठाॅंउमा फर्कन सक्छन्। धेरै नेपालीहरु (पर्यटन व्यावसायीहरू) उनीहरु पनि यहीं रहून् भन्ने चाहन्छन्।
नेपाल सरकार पर्यटन बर्ष २०२० घोषण गरेपछि नेपाल घुम्न आएको पर्यटकहरूलाई निरास नपारौॅं, यहीॅं भएको पर्यटकलाई लखेटेर घाटा देशको अर्थतन्त्रलाई नै हो।
हामी, (पर्यटक)अध्यागमन विभाग र नेपाली सरकारले यस अनौठो र अभूतपूर्व समयमा विशेष व्यवस्था गर्न विश्वभरका देशहरूको नेतृत्वलाई पछ्याउन चाहन्छौं भने नेपालमा यत्रो पर्यटकहरू जो यहाँ छनौट गर्न को लागी रोज्न सक्छन्। वा गर्न आवश्यक छ - उनीहरूको आफ्नै सुरक्षाको लागि साथै निरन्तर फाइदाको लागि जुन उनीहरू संघर्ष गरिरहेका पर्यटक र स्थानीय अर्थव्यवस्थालाई प्रदान गर्दैछन्।
