Request Cobb County Officials to deny Z-72 Megachurch & Townhomes zoning for JOSH area
The Issue
**REMINDER, DO NOT DONATE - DONATIONS DRIVE IN OUT OF TOWN SIGNATURES**DO NOT DONATE**
(Only Local Area Signatures Are Wanted. Cobb County, GA Residents Only Please)
We would like to petition Cobb County officials, commissioners and planners to deny the Z-72 zoning for the Northpoint Ministries megachurch and townhome plans for the JOSH area. We, the local area residents who will face consequences of the improper zoning, request the land be used as originally intended and enumerated in the published JOSH masterplans (https://s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/cobbcounty.org.if-us-west-2/prod/2020-09/JOSH-FINAL-SEPTEMBER-2020-090820.pdf :
-Approve only low-density detached single family homes per JOSH guidelines of R-20. Encourage down-zoning instead of high-density up-zoning.
-No approvals for high density requests, greenspace should outweigh concrete & buildings.
-Define our community as an inviting place for families through building of new detached single family homes, as well as family friendly greenspace, markets & businesses.
-Encourage detached Senior Living homes, to collect tax revenue without burdening already over-crowded schools or adding additional peak hour traffic.
-Maintain/Improve current median home value of $347,440
-Preserve the Single Family Detached suburban character of our area. Deny any requests to urbanize JOSH area or East Cobb.
-Keep area as mostly residentially zoned (currently JOSH area is 95% residentially zoned), limit commercial to low-rise local businesses. No fast food chains!
-Improve traffic flow on JFR, SFR & Lassiter. Close off or deter cut through traffic down Waterfront/Manor House.
-Enhance aesthetic of area through streetscapes, nature barriers and suburban architecture
-Establish connecting pedestrian & bike friendly sidewalks, as well as a family friendly public park for better sense of an active community & to better serve public health. Create a type of 'square' for local markets and activities for families to attend
-Restore the lake on Waterfront Drive for proper water management for JOSH area and down-flow neighborhoods. Include recreational trails by the lake linking public park to commercial & residential areas.
