Negligence , dereliction of duty and rude behaviour by vets at Max Vet Hospital.

The Issue

I have done many animal rescues and fostered many but this rescue was a real nightmare because of the negligence and high handedness of Dr. Akhiyar Khan and Dr Tahsina Roy Chaudhury of Maxvet. I had rushed a badly injured kitten who we called Rebecca who also had maggotts in her wound, to maxvet. Not that I could afford such an expensive place but stretched myself as it was a life at stake.

From day 1, it was as though i walked into a disaster. No vet attended her for sometime though many were free and talking to each other at the lobby, finally after 20 minutes Dr khan came ( though he was all along free and chatting at the reception prior to this) and attended the case in a disinterested way and he was hesitant to touch a stray kitten and said "wild cat. He was very clear that he attends to only breed pets. He said the cat is smelling and left the room abruptly and he didnt even touch the cat, but gave some instructions to the handlers and a paravet. He looked at Rebecca with disdain and zero interest and treated her like as though she was filth and he was scared to touch her. Blood works were done and I was asked to admit rebecca . As per them they would give updates twice daily of the inpatient and regular reports would be sent by mail, however i never got a call about her health updates. The only calls I got was immediately after admitting Rebecca and about her death.

Not once did Dr Khan come and check on Rebecca even after she was admitted, even during visiting hours when I was there. Despite my requests he never ever came or gave any updates. The case was left to a junior vet called Tahsina Roy Chowdhury who was rude and nasty. She refused to give daily updates or reports till I pestered her. Her excuse was "your phone was unreachable or there was a cross connection"

Despite repeated requests to Dr Tahsina she never gave daily reports even in the morning or evening. She was rather rude to me during my visiting hours when I asked updates. She was devoid of any empathy towards the cat and largely didnt know what is happening to the cat. She gave conflicting statuses each time . I got a mail update on 19th evening. Each day was a gruelling exercise because Dr Khan was never there, Dr Tahsina was rude and unkind. I was concerned about Rebecca not pooping for almost 6 days and despite requesting Dr Tahsina to give her something to clear het motion, nothing was done.

On 21st Sept at 7:50 pm I was informed of Rebecca's death due to a cardiac attack. I rushed to the hospital with my mom and we met vet Wasim who was on duty then. That fatal day I couldn't go for my daily hospital visit. I asked him how did they determine it was a heart attack. Nor was I given the body and I was told that he doesnt want any questions or drama and I was told to come the next day ..we returned with a heavy heart and minus her body

Next day the report handed to me did not have cause for death. My repeated request on cause of death went unheeded. The report gave no cause of death but when I was insistent about knowing the cause they wrote cardiac arrest. Despite giving a blanket approval for all blood tests to Dr Tahsina, the tests werent done . She had even asked me for permission for conducting advanced tests, which I had approved.

The sad part was nothing was done to improve her condition. Most of the time, Dr Tahsina had no clue as to what was happening with the cat who was under her care.

I wanted an autopsy of the cat done but maxvet denied the same.

Its tragic that a hospital who claims it's a multi speciality hospital neglects its patients so badly and doesnt even give answers as to what has gone wrong with the animal we admitted.
