Save Connecticut Restaurants Now!
The Issue
PLEASE OPEN THE RAINY DAY FUND!!
I am stating the obvious when I say this year has been a challenge for all…yourself included I am certain. Every person and industry has been negatively affected by covid-19.
I am writing to you on behalf of the entire Connecticut Restaurant/Hospitality Community. I am Director of Operations & restaurant consultant/advisor for several restaurants throughout the state of Connecticut. I have an audience of over 2000 people on Facebook that rely on my networking and communications. I am the voice of many concerned people facing dire financial issues throughout the hospitality industry.
Now that fall is turning into winter we are faced with a grim reality. Cases have risen and consumer confidence has been destroyed by the constant reporting by the media and some of our local politicians. We don’t need to go back in Phases because we already have. The owners I have talked to in the past week have seen 40-70% reduction in sales. And if we do go back to Phase 1, it's very simple; we the Restaurant Industry cannot survive on Take-Out only.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!! We need it immediately.
We have navigated through this challenge since March by remaining flexible and continually changing our game. We have gone from full service, to take out, to redesigning our space to be COVID-19 compliant. We have spent a small fortune on heaters, tents, PPE, etc. all to continue to serve our most loyal customers as safely as possible. We have complied with every state rule implemented and some of us have against all odds managed to stay afloat. We were only able to manage this with the PPP loan.
Many will not be so fortunate this time around WITHOUT ASSISTANCE! We have already lost too many local restaurants and bars across the state.
We have loyal staff members we are responsible for especially after they have risked their health and safety for us. Our purveyors and many others we do business with us depend on us. If we are forced to close the state falls into the domino effect. If you help to keep us open, we help to keep many people employed. The State cannot sustain another mass layoff.
CONNECTICUT RESTAURANTS CANNOT STAY OPEN WITHOUT HELP.
TAKE OUT YOUR UMBRELLA, OPEN THE RAINY DAY FUND AND SAVE US FROM THE INEVITABLE FLOOD OF CLOSINGS THAT IS COMING.
