Good morning Friends, Supporters & Comrades, Yesterday we learned that The Protect Act was raised in the Judiciary Committee which means that our bill will have a Public Hearing on March 16th!
This is the first milestone & victory! And really cause for celebration and pressing our foot to the medal and urging the judiciary committee to vote Yes, after the public hearing for our bill!
On this Friday’s SSCT organizing call (2/18/22 at 7pm) it is critical we have as many of you as possible join the call so we can begin the organizing work of contacting members of the judiciary and preparing for testimony! We must began contacting all members of the judiciary and urge them to vote yes to the bill being voted out of judiciary!
We will also, began the critical Organizing Work of having people host virtual house parties and cause the judiciary committee to get an abundance of calls!
Senator Winfield underlined to us that legislators rarely every get 8-10 calls, so when they do it represents to them that this is an issue they must care about!
Below is the vote Tally of who voted Yes or No to The Protect Act Being Voted Out of Judiciary Last Year. While it is likely that people who voted yes last year will vote yes, again we don’t want to assume! https://www.cga.ct.gov/2021/ts/s/pdf/2021SB-01059-R00JUD-CV112-TS.pdf
So please if your legislature is on the judiciary call them again! Highlight the major components of The 2022 Protect Act and ask if they’ll vote Yes!

If your legislator on the judiciary committee voted no last year, ask them what they were concerned about, listen to them, address their concerns by sharing about the 2022 Protect Act and ask them if they’ll vote Yes! If there is a question you can’t answer, thank them for their time and tell them you’ll get back to them. Reach out to me if you need support answering any questions that came up! I have your back!
Please RSVP for the call! Even if you can’t stay the whole time, please join!! It’s going to take a lot more hands on deck to do this! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1l1txS7-S4K7QRnl2lA3nFOpuYgW5O1MT4-YCN-Pd4y4/viewform?edit_requested=true
