We are demanding that the NC Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners modernize these outdated rules:

1. The 1" Rule: Update the "Natural Hair Care" scope to include a 1-inch maintenance trim for hair health.
2. The 25-50 Hour Bridge: Create a safety/sanitation module so specialists can be certified to trim without a full 1,500-hour degree.
3. Required Texture Training: Mandate that all NC cosmetology licenses include dedicated hours for Type 3 and Type 4 hair—so no client is left behind.
