N.C. aquarium on Roanoke island stop the fossil pit removal petition !
The Issue
I was told today that the North Carolina aquarium on Roanoke island is going to be removing the fossil pit during a future renovation . I have been there multiple times over the past 5 years & my children love the fossil pit . I am asking anyone who enjoys fossil hunting or digging to sign this petition for a remodel of the fossil pit instead of a removal of it . This fossil pit has porpoise teeth , ear-bones , petrified crab claws , vertebrae , sharks teeth , fossilized clams muscles snails , baleen , coprolite & many other fossils . Every time I go I have found over 100 teeth & I give them out to children & parents as well as explain what to look for or how to find them . Most of the time people ask me if I work for the aquarium. Everyone is very great full for the help & information I provide . The security guard on the other hand has been very upset with me coming to share my passion for fossils . He even got the head of the aquarium to come over to talk to me today about how big the holes were that I was digging . The fossil material is only 2 1/2 feet deep & that’s as far as I dig . I never leave my hole unattended nor do I leave not completely filled in . So please help save this awesome exhibit for future generations by signing the petition to renovate it instead of removing it. Thank
