Stop NatWest closing accounts without leaving access to funds

The Issue

On the 27th of April 2020 NatWest closed my current and savings accounts without any prior warning. 

I have been denied access my own money in the accounts and was instructed to fill in a “funds release form” and my money would be released to me within 28-60 business days. 

I have had several conversations with customer service agents over the phone and in branch and all I am told is they aren’t legally obligated to tell me why they have closed it and that I am not able to access any funds. Upon asking how I was supposed to feed my 4 children and pay my bills I was told to “borrow some money”. This leaves me in the middle of a global pandemic with no money, no bank and no means to provide for my family. 

This has not only happened to myself there are hundreds if not thousands of people who have suffered the same judgement from NatWest and all told by NatWest customer service simply there’s nothing they can do.

NatWest need to review their account closures process and make the relevant changes to prevent causing any more innocent people unnecessary physical and psychological stress.

Let us stop NatWest (which is over 70% tax payer funded) taking the law into their own hands and stealing innocent people’s money.
