Natwest account closures, leaving thousands of vulnerable people with no money
The Issue
Over the last few years Natwest has been closing seemingly random bank accounts with no explanation, leaving thousands of people locked out of their money. This has effected all types of people in the United Kingdom leaving them stranded with no access to their own money with zero explanation as to why. This has been effecting everyone from 85 year old women- to young single mothers who no longer are able to buy food and care for their child. There has even been one case where a young man's account has been frozen with no explanation and no advice other than that he try and find a food bank to survive over the Christmas period.
Let me be clear, the bank are within it's legal right to do this and to withhold information regarding the reason as to why the account has been closed, but the complete immorality of their actions to their customers during the accounts closure and as to why is as incompetent as It gets. This petition is to make a change to the process of the unfreezing of accounts, which needs to be done in a timely and more competent manner, with thoughts given to the customer being without access to their money and therefore essentially having their life put on hold. The timeline of getting your money back seems to vary anywhere from 2 weeks, to 2 years. Which is completely unacceptable. There also seems to be no communication between Natwest and it's general staff on the floor. You can be told one thing, and then the next day you will be told the exact opposite. With everyone within the organisation contradicting each other. No one seem to have a clue. Surely this can't go on in this manner any longer. It's something you never think about until it happens to you. They are one of the biggest banks in the world and therefore can get away with it, but now is the time for them to change and stop leaving vulnerable people with no access to their hard earned money.
