For DEFRA & Natural England to reinstate a licence to release Grey Squirrels & Muntjac

The Issue

Under the terms of ‘The Invasive Alien Species Order 2019’ Wildlife Rescues across the country are no longer legally allowed to release rehabilitated grey squirrels and muntjac deer.

We are outraged that Natural England have enforced these changes and we know this news may come as a shock to members of the public who were not aware of the Government’s decision to revoke current release licences for these species.

If we are to release ANY of the invasive species we can face huge fines and possibly have our rights of rescuing these animals taken away period.

With that said.. if you find or see a injured muntjac deer or grey squirrel please dont think by not calling a wildlife rescue it will be ok.. this can potentially cause immense suffering and in many situations we have to consider the welfare of a patient. By not calling a wildlife rescue .. this could be considered to be cruel. As the animal may be weak and ill for many weeks before dying from a long and painful injury/illness.

this is part of our work 'to prevent the pain and suffering from wild animals' I know this seems unfair.. but honestly we have NO choice. If you would like to join us in expressing our emotions towards this idiotic approach.. please sign this petition and we will send to the organisations to show what the public really want for our beautiful wildlife.
