The Issue

The continuous sale of Indigenous costumes during Halloween time is offensive to various Native American tribes and cultures. Spirit Halloween Store refuses to take this into consideration. The use of traditional clothing worn by Indigenous people as costumes shows a great disregard to what they have endured in order to preserve their cultures in the Americas. It is time to put an end to cultural appropriation. People couldn't purchase the costumes without access to them. Let Spirit know they need a sincere lesson on cultural appropriation and how it affects marginalized groups such as Native Americans.
