I find this both sad and promising. http://bit.ly/14ET821 The complaint against Dr. ‪Pol‬ was the most clicked story of 2014 on DVM360‬. Pretty remarkable, since it was only up for the last three months of the year. Sad because I think of all the seemingly much more important things that happened last year that we could have been working on. And that's when it hits me- that is also what makes this promising. We care about this. We care more about this than anything else. Last year, despite everything truly momentous that happened in the veterinary world that makes up most of dvm360's audience, last year we paid more attention to this story than any other. That's pretty remarkable. Caring is what drives us as veterinarians- as Dr. Pol has shown. So let's keep working to make that caring more effective at improving outcomes- in this case changing the show so we only see Dr. Pol practicing in ways that meet the minimum standards. One way this could be done is for the show to accept a technical advisor from the profession to, well... advise the producers when footage they wanted to use didn't meet the standards. What other solutions an we come up with?
