We, the people, demand that henceforth the last Sunday of August be declared National Draft Day — a holiday dedicated to the fantasy football draft. For more than 50 million people, it marks the first day of the best season of the year.

A day to put aside obligations and familial duties in order to focus on what’s truly important: drafting the strongest possible fantasy football team.

It’s like Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa all wrapped into one: the weeks of anticipation, the gathering of loved ones and lineups, the eating and drinking and merrymaking.

It’s a day for family and friends to gather and reminisce over past victories and defeats. And rub said victories in the faces of the defeated. A day of antagonizing and gloating. A day of celebration and unity.

No longer shall draft days be scattered throughout the month. No longer shall they be determined by the free-ness of our Commish’s schedule. No longer shall we be judged for gluttonous pizza orders nor denigrated for forgetting chores. All year we’ve prepared for it - so it’s time we do it together. United.
