Great news! The National Action Against Police Brutality quilt, is nearly completed and will be recieved shortly! Each and every one you who have donated to this campaign will see your name upon the quilt. This act of support for our nation wide demand was done in "solidarity" to our efforts which were recognized outside of the United States. They understood and saw the need for nation wide action against police brutality and murder, and sought to encourage support by donations towards those efforts - even donating themselves! As we all know, the demand has been in progress for quite some time. First, accelerating with each widely publicized murder by police, followed by stagnation when the murder is no longer in the news. Nevertheless, our demand was not prompted by media and we have maintained a steady consistent course based solely on the need. The consistency in our efforts has indeed been acknowledged. And that quilt documenting the name of each supporter towards our efforts is evidence. Please know, that in the "generations to come" that quilt will remind future generations of those who put their money where their mouth is - in a nation wide demand against police brutality and murder! We are not nearly "where we want to be" but no where near finished. We have an up and coming fundraising event in which I hope to generate further interest and support for the demand in progress. And that event will show case those who speak to the issues of our time, using spoken word, poetry, rap, and song. And in as much as we seek "the voice of the voiceless" to be heard regarding the injustice being suffered, I cannot think of any better way, than to let those directly affected be heard "right here and right now". The program entitled VOICES FOR JUSTICE IN HIP HOP will be held inside a New York City theatre, on August 20th 2016! These artists who use their voice to communicate the oppression and injustice are speaking concerning their issues as those directly affected. The method and manner in which that information is articulated can range from intellectual to hard core and raw. If we live in a society that does not wish to tolerate the "hard and raw" in speech using words to convey truth, than it ought not be tolerated in "deeds and actions" by a government which "throws the rock and hides it's hand" leaving every one to wonder what happened and why? We know why! And many aren't afraid to tell it, so prepare to get an ear full if attending this event. A heart full of appreciation to those in UNITED KINGDOM who have stitched the quilt and are standing in solidarity with us! And also to those in Mexico who are waging the same fight against police and also stand in solidarity with us! I believe they have taken the lead in demonstrating what "solidarity" looks like.
