A Christmas Tree of Hope.

Today was a good day even though it started out a little rough. I guess I should say it was a good, new normal for us as we navigate the water.
Kayne had breakfast and afterwards he was enjoying a nice warm bath to relax. He must have moved just a little too quick while getting out because he got sick. That is the worst! Throwing up! Poor guy! You feel so bad for him. He overcame it quickly though. He said it isn't really his stomach, but more his head. The tumor puts pressure on the nerves and anytime he moves his head too quickly, he gets sick. He must move "Very Slowly!"
He is very dependent right now because he can't really be alone. He needs help just to get up and to walk anywhere. We have been using the wheelchairs at the facilities, but his 6'4" body is a little too big for them. He will meet with physical therapy next week to be fitted for a wheel chair more for his body. In addition, we will be getting a walker and shower stool for him. We are praying for him to get stronger..
Well, yes it was a good day.. His cousin Colby and Tanji came to visit and we had lunch at Panera Bread after his radiation treatment.
Colby and Tanji made a Christmas Tree out of construction paper for his wall at the Hope Lodge. She had different colored slips for us to fill out a prayer and message for Kayne. This gets taped on and we have personalized ornaments for the Christmas Tree of Hope. Now, everyone who visits can fill out a prayer and message, adding a new ornament to his tree.
I must say the love and support from family, friends, and people we don't even know has been a blessing. This is a complete new experience for us and it is not a journey one can do alone. You realize you must depend on people for emotional, physical, mental and financial support. By being able to put some fears to the side, knowing there is help it allows us to focus our attention as a caregiver for Kayne. It really helps the number one caretaker, (Mom) Kirsten be the best mom and caretaker around for Kayne. For that we are grateful and love you all.. With that folks....Good night!
