If the Town of Block Island did not continue to fight back against the illegal expansion of Champlin's Marina, the Town of Block Island would have lost the battle, and Procaccianti - Paolino who purchased the Marina would have been the biggest winners and Block Island and the fragile ecosystem of The Great Salt Pond would have suffered and be the biggest losers. Let the Town of Narragansett continue to fight for Galilee, so Procaccianti and Paolino, and any other corporation that are violating our Town's Ordinances will cease and desist. We all can see (literally and figuratively) how the eyesore street level parking lots and the abandoned Lighthouse Inn has hurt Galilee. Let's continue to fight. Let's get the courts involved as they needed to get involved with the Block Island battle to overrule the abuse of the illegal expansion of Champlin's Marina. The Town of Narragansett should not sit back and be at the mercy of the RIDEM, as the RIDEM has already shown its true colors. Also, let us not forget, while the illegal expansion of Champlin's Marina would have hurt the fragile ecosystem of The Great Salt Pond, the RIDEM was SILENT on trying to STOP the expansion. If you or I did anything to harm the ocean or lakes, we could face fines and imprisonment from the RIDEM. Why does the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management FAIL to enforce its rules to PROTECT our fragile ecosystems when BIG CORPORATIONS are involved? Something stinks with the RIDEM's gross mismanagement and lack of enforcement in Block Island's Champlin Marina Expansion and its and gross mismanagement of Galilee. Here is a video Jim Hummel created regarding the battle in Block Island in case you haven't seen it. It shows the fight and battle that occurred in Block Island. The Supreme Court of RI finally heard the case, and it ruled the expansion of Champlin's Marina was illegal and the expansion would not be allowed. https://youtube.com/watch?v=gDB5dK42d2M
