As a decision for the selection of a proposal still has not been reached by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM), it is more important than ever to have even more signatures added to this petition.   We are now close to 2300 signatures.   It will be great if we can reach 2500 in the near future.    Please continue to reach out to a family member or friend who has a love for Galilee, and who supports the Town of Narragansett's Proposal for our Gem of a Village of Galilee.   Today, the Narragansett Times printed out my editorial that is noted below.

Let us hope the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management RIDEM, the State Properties Commission, and Our Governor will not ignore the will of our elected officials, our Town Manager, Town Planner, and the town council members so the Town of Narragansett's Proposal will be selected for the land lease in Galilee.   In addition, we have the support from the voices from the Friends of Galilee, our local Representatives Teresa Tanzi and Carol Hagan McEntee, and as can be seen at an online petition at the change.org web with over 2200 signatures, our proposal has support from many more.   In addition, the Town’s proposal has been supported by multiple research studies, whereas the alternative plans have not been supported by anyone besides the two companies who forwarded their proposals.    In the past there has been dissension on many issues in Narragansett, but virtually everyone I have spoken with or who I have communicated with online have been in favor of the Town of Narragansett’s Proposal.   I have not heard of one person speaking in favor of the alternative proposals.  We cannot all be wrong.   This Town Council also supported the modern state of the art library, as it was voted and supported by the will of the people.   I therefore, want to thank you all once again for supporting the Town of Narragansett’s Proposal as it is clearly supported by the will of the people who love, work, live, and visit Galilee.   In my eyes, it is a no brainer.

In the movie, It's a Wonderful Life, the Town had to rally to save Bedford Falls from a Mr. Potter who was only concerned about his greed regardless of what harm would happen to the town and its residents.    Let us hope no modern-day Mr. Potters will take away our Gem of a Village: Galilee from our Beloved Town.    Our Town manages many properties and land areas very successfully.    Our Town Administrators never let any of its properties become neglected, an eyesore, or an attraction for scavengers, as what has happened to the property leased out by Procaccianti Developers.     Procaccianti Developers had their chance to help enhance the area of Galilee when they held their lease, and they failed miserably.    It would be reckless and suspect for our Government Agencies to renew a lease with Procaccinati Developers as the developers have shown a breach of their prior lease and Procaccianti Developers let the leased land become a liability to the Town of Narragansett.  A seafood processing plant should also not even be considered as the land is not even zoned industrial and it will harm not help our Village of Galilee, and it will fail to entice anyone to take a trip down to Galilee.    A seafood processing plant will not help our Village of Galilee.  Let the Quonset Area Aqua Development Company build their seafood processing plant in an industrial area in Quonset Point.    The company's name would be a perfect fit for that location too.  Let us hope and pray the will of all those who love Galilee will prevail.     The Town of Narragansett's Proposal is the only viable proposal for our Gem of a Village: Galilee.   Our Gem needs to become shining and not dulled by the neglect by those entrusted in its care.

I recently spoke with Gregory S. Schultz of the Environmental and Energy-Regulatory Unit, Civil Division who is a Special Assistant Attorney General, and he appreciated all the information I shared with him.   Special Assistant Schultz serves on the State Properties Commission.  He thanked me for all the information I have shared with him.   Let us hope the Town of Narragansett’s Proposal will get selected as the winning proposal for our Gem of a Village.
