NTU to allow stranded International Students to study from home!
Several of our peers at Nanyang Technological University had been barred from re-entering Singapore, and thus are currently being forced by the university to take a Leave of Absence, effectively delaying their graduation by at least one semester, in some cases two semesters.
Making arrangements for studying remotely has become standard practice for nearly all the global universities. NTU refuses to make such arrangements for their students, and so far, has rejected the solutions that students and faculty proposed together.
They justify their practice saying it would be unfair towards the international students who decided to stay. Those international students do not care! We care about the wellbeing and academic progress of our peers. We do not want to see them punished for having to or deciding to go home to their families that they haven’t seen in months, or even years.
It is time for NTU to show that they care too.
