Nantucket Island is a beautiful place to live, work and play. However, the island lacks an indoor community recreation complex that allows for soccer , lacrosse , racquet sports and a Track.   This is a major concern for the residents of Nantucket who are passionate about sports and fitness.

According to a survey conducted by the Nantucket Parks and Recreation Department, over 70% of residents expressed their desire for an indoor community recreation complex that would allow them to play soccer and lacrosse all year round. The lack of such facilities has resulted in limited opportunities for children and adults alike to engage in physical activity during the winter months.

Moreover, studies have shown that regular exercise can improve mental health, reduce stress levels, increase productivity at work or school, boost self-esteem and prevent chronic diseases such as obesity or diabetes. By providing access to an indoor community recreation complex that allows for soccer and lacrosse and racquet sports , we can promote healthy lifestyles among our residents.

Therefore, we urge the town council of Nantucket Island to prioritize the construction of an indoor community recreation complex that meets the needs of our community. We believe this facility will not only benefit our physical health but also enhance social connections among residents.
