The Issue

Illinois' newly elected Rep. Mary Miller was caught on video praising Adolf Hitler at a Pro-Trump Rally in Washington D.C.

She said, “This is the battle. Hitler was right on one thing. He said, 'Whoever has the youth has the future.'”

This drew sharp rebuke from both Democrats and Republicans, including the Governor of Illinois (D) and fellow Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R).

As a first generation American who believes not in the fervent nationalism that this blatant and divisive rhetoric engenders but in our democracy, I cannot abide her presence in government. I'm not sure if her actions are a violation of the rules of ethics for the US Congress and frankly, I don't care. This kind of speech is tantamount to treason and terrorism coming from Rep. Mary Miller.

Per the US Constitution:

Article I, Section 5, of the United States Constitution provides that "Each House [of Congress] may determine the Rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the concurrence of two-thirds, expel a member."

I call upon the honorable members of the House Ethics Committee to immediately draft and pass a resolution expelling Rep. Mary Miller and restore the dignity of the House of Representatives of these United States of America.
