Well folks, it turns out if you support a student organization for 40+ years, basically build it from the ground up (more here: tinyurl.com/WIXQ917), have already donated an incredible amount of money (they have created eight, yes, eight endowments), impact innumerable students, to the point where one says "they were my parents," it'll cost you 500K to name said student organization after yourself. To be clear, the alumni supporting this effort skew young - we do not have half a million dollars to raise. We are asking the University to name essentially what amounts to six rooms in the basement of the Student Memorial Center (SMC) - we are not asking to put our own names on the front of a building. All of that said, the University is quoted: "It would be up to the Council of Trustees to decide if it wants to approve a name change without financial donation."
