Thomas Richard Weaver, Sr., affectionately known as "Weav," dedicated 42 remarkable years to Cherry Hill East, impacting the lives of thousands of students. As a teacher, technical director, director, and mentor, he strove for excellence and taught his students to do the same. He set the bar high and created a culture of dedication and pride in work done well. 

Weav was synonymous with Cherry Hill East Theater. From founding Mime Company to his famously spectacular set designs (He flew a house. On a high school stage.), to Directing everything from Studio 2 final showcases to the Spring Musical, Weav was integral to every aspect of Cherry Hill East Theater. His impact on his students is decades long - as someone recently said, they often think "What Would Weav Do?" when faced with a roadblock.

The theater at Cherry Hill East is currently under much-needed renovation and is slated to re-open in early 2027. What better way to honor the impact that Weav had on the department and his students, and to inspire the next generations of students to learn and follow his lead, than to name the new theater the Tom Weaver Theater. (or something similar, with approval of the Weaver Family)

We urge the Cherry Hill School District to recognize Weav's lifelong commitment and the impact he has had on our community. By naming the theater after him, we ensure that future generations will know of his legacy and continue to be inspired by his life's work.
