Hello, there.
Earlier this month, The Emperor Norton Trust reported in this space that the Imperial Council of San Francisco — the LGBTQ-focused philanthropic, community, and civic organization founded by the late José Sarria (1922–2013), the self-styled "Widow Norton" — had issued the first institutional endorsement of our proposal to name the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge tunnel through Yerba Buena Island, S.F., the Emperor Norton Tunnel.
Subsequently, the Trust has received two more institutional endorsements of our naming proposal. We've mentioned these via our social channels (Facebook, Twitter) and e-newsletter — so, if you follow The Emperor Norton Trust in those venues, this may be "old news."
But, if not, please follow the links to learn more about recent endorsements from:
Chinese Historical Society of America — here
Oldest organization in the country dedicated to the preservation of Chinese American history
California Lodge No. 1 of Free & Accepted Masons — here
Oldest Masonic lodge in California, chartered in 1848
To learn about some key ways that you can help advance our Emperor Norton Tunnel naming proposal, please see our Action Guide.
Thanks so much!
JOHN LUMEA
