As we prepare to say goodbye to 2025, The Emperor Norton Trust is more than 12 years deep into this wonderful, punching-above-its-weight project of research, education, and advocacy for the Emperor's legacy that launched in September 2013.

We still await our first 4-figure donation! But, if you ever have contributed financially at the 2-or-3-figure level to support the work of the Trust, you are part of it. It's a shopworn phrase, but — truly — The Emperor Norton Trust could not have become the leading public resource on Emperor Norton without you. Thank you!

We always are grateful for unsolicited contributions that arrive throughout the year. Increasingly, though, the Trust relies on targeted fundraising appeals.

Of late, it has been our practice to float the Trust's primary appeal in the spring — March or April.

Last year, we added a "supplemental appeal" in late December. This was very successful — so we're giving it another go this year.

Next year, we will be amplifying our proposal that the California state legislature name the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge tunnel through Yerba Buena Island the EMPEROR NORTON TUNNEL in 2026 — the 90th anniversary of both the bridge and the tunnel and the 180th anniversary of Joshua Norton's arrival in the United States, in Boston, in March 1846.
