Hello, friends.
As we hope you'll have seen by now, The Emperor Norton Trust is proposing that the California state legislature name the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge tunnel through Yerba Buena Island
EMPEROR NORTON TUNNEL
in 2026 — which is both:
- the 90th anniversary of the opening of the Bay Bridge in 1936 and
- the 180th anniversary of Joshua Norton's first arrival in the United States in 1846
We're envisioning two prominent highway signs — one each at:
- the entrance of the westbound tunnel (upper deck)
- the entrance of the eastbound tunnel (lower deck)
To help folks imagine what this could look like "IRL" (in real life), we've mocked up a couple of concept images — including the one attached here — and added these to our full proposal.
To see both images and read the proposal...
Go to EmperorNortonTunnel.org and click the PROPOSAL button.
Please share the proposal widely — and...
Please share this petition with any Emperor-sympathetic friend who has not already signed.
Cheers!
JOHN LUMEA
