In 2013, on the second Sunday of December, The Emperor Norton Trust (then known as The Emperor's Bridge Campaign) held its first holiday party at the historic 1913 House of Shields bar, on New Montgomery Street in San Francisco.

We called it The Tannenbaum Toast. 

We've been back to The House of Shields every second Sunday of December since then, to toast the Emperor and to enjoy the company of fellow Nortonians.

This year, we’ll be maintaining the Tannenbaum tradition via Zoom.

While we’ll dearly miss the dark-bar glamour and intimacy of The House of Shields — where we hope to be able resume our annual festivities in December 2021 — Zoom affords us the opportunity to bring into the glass-raising circle citizens of the Empire from around the world, not just those who by circumstance and good fortune live in and around the Emperor’s adopted city.
