Our fabulous new Emperor's Bridge Campaign t-shirts — the ones with the soon-to-be-less-rarely-seen Lois Hanscom illustration of Emperor Norton from 1939 — are nearly ready for their debut! Did you make a Kickstarter pledge to get one or more of these beauties? Well, if you're going to be in the Bay Area next weekend, here's your chance to: * pick up your t-shirt(s); * help us save a bit on postage and packaging; * chat us up about the work of the Campaign; and * have a drink or two on a Saturday afternoon with our good friends at Emperor Norton's Boozeland! T-SHIRT PICK-UP PARTY Saturday 17 October from 2 to 5 p.m. Emperor Norton's Boozeland 510 Larkin Street (near Turk Street) San Francisco If you're unable to join us, start checking your mailbox for a t-shirt-shaped package in the last week or so of October! :: :: :: You might have noticed that the date of the party — 17 October — is the anniversary of the Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989, which severed the original Eastern crossing of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. Seems a fitting day to celebrate the person who set out the original vision for the Bay Bridge in 1872 — and who indeed, over the course of his reign, set out a vision for a more just, more fair, more tolerant society that could unite people with bridges even sturdier than steel. So come getcher t-shirts! You'll find us on the patio out back. If you want a shirt but missed the Kickstarter, we'll have some extras! Even if you just want to come have a chat and a beer... See you on the 17th! JOHN LUMEA The Emperor's Bridge Campaign
