Name Kamloops’ Riverside skating loop 'Hudson’s Loop'
The Issue
Kamloops has always been good at producing talent — and when someone from here breaks through on a big stage, it’s worth celebrating.
We’re asking the City of Kamloops to name the new outdoor skating loop at Riverside Park “Hudson’s Loop” in recognition of Hudson Williams, who was born and raised in Kamloops and has experienced a breakout moment through his role in the hit series Heated Rivalry.
Heated Rivalry has connected with audiences around the world, especially fans of hockey, winter culture, and LGBTQ+ storytelling. For many people, Hudson’s work on the show is their first introduction to a Kamloops-born performer — and that’s something our city can be proud of.
The name fits the space perfectly. It’s friendly, memorable, and feels like something locals and visitors would actually say:
“Let’s go skate at Hudson’s Loop.”
It also creates a meaningful connection between a beautiful public space and a real Kamloops story — one that visitors, fans of the show, and locals alike can appreciate. And the campfires at the rink give real cottage vibes.
If you believe Kamloops should recognize local artists when they have their moment, and travel far beyond our city, please sign and share.
Let’s honour Hudson — and give our new skating loop a name with heart
