Name all industry sources transparently

The Issue

I believe it shall now be possible for industry sources to be named immediately. For example, Bill Hunt's own industry sources, who are with him at this time, said in January 2026 that "there are currently no plans for physical 4K disc releases of Planet of the Apes (1968), The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951), Cast Away (2000), and Armageddon (1998) in 2026." This lack of transparency in the film and entertainment industry fosters scepticism among consumers, creates unnecessary rumors, and ultimately leads to a misinformed audience.

Naming industry sources can significantly improve the credibility of information disseminated to the public. By knowing the individuals or groups behind significant industry decisions and statements, audiences can gauge the reliability of provided information. Furthermore, it fosters accountability in the industry, ensuring that information is both accurate and reflective of actual industry intentions.

The lack of named sources has often been exploited, leading to misinformation and confusion. For instance, many film enthusiasts eagerly await the release of their favourite classics in modern formats, and when such information is incorrectly reported or sourced, it leads to unnecessary disappointment and distrust.

Thus, I urge the film and entertainment industry to establish a standard practice of naming all industry sources behind public statements and announcements. Not only will this establish a new era of transparency and trust within the industry, but it will also empower consumers to make informed decisions based on verified information.

By signing this petition, you are advocating for a more transparent and trustworthy film industry where information is accurately disseminated and verified, ultimately leading to better consumer trust and satisfaction. Please add your support by signing this petition today.
