🧭 102 Years Since Courage Chose Its Moment

On October 28, 1923, a young torpedoman named Henry Breault made a decision that still echoes through the Submarine Force. When his boat, USS O‑5, was sinking fast, he had every chance to escape. Instead, he turned back for a trapped shipmate.

For his actions, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on March 8, 1924. 102 years later we remember!

That choice, quiet, instinctive, and rooted in loyalty earned him the Medal of Honor and set the standard for what it means to be a submariner. He remains the only enlisted submariner ever to receive the nation’s highest award for valor.

A century later, his legacy is still teaching us something: courage isn’t always loud. Leadership isn’t always visible. And the stories that shape our Navy often come from the people who never asked for recognition.
As we mark the 102nd anniversary of his Medal of Honor action, I’m asking for your help in ensuring Henry Breault’s name takes its rightful place in our national memory.

Please sign and share the petition to name a future U.S. Navy submarine in his honor.
Every signature is a reminder that character matters.

That we still choose to remember the heroes who chose their shipmates first.

Please share far and wide today!
