Judge Jessie LeBlanc Must Go!

Judge Jessie LeBlanc Must Go!
The Issue
District Judge Jessie Leblanc MUST GO! District Judge Jessie Leblanc admitted to WAFB news during an interview on Sunday that she used racial slurs directed at two black officials in her district and her extra-marital affair with a high-ranking sheriff’s deputy in that district.
Judge LeBlanc’s attorney on Feb 20th told reporters that he questioned the authenticity of text messages where it showed Judge Leblanc using racially charged language in text messages. District Judge Jessie LeBlanc told television station WAFB on Sunday that she did in fact use the word "n-----" while referring to an Assumption Parish Deputy and a court employee, both of whom are black. Photocopies of the messages were included in an affidavit signed by former Assumption Parish Chief Deputy Bruce Prejean, with whom LeBlanc had had an affair.
Judge LeBlanc went on to express how she has many African American friends and how she has had friends of her son whose parents couldn’t afford various things for them who stayed with me. Judge Leblanc does not get a pass because she has friends that are black for her clear bias and racism toward people of color.
Not only did she admit to having an affair and using racially charged language, but Judge Leblanc had the audacity to express that she plans to run again once her term ends on December 31st of this year. The Louisiana Code of Judicial Conduct states, “An independent and honorable judiciary is indispensable to justice in our society. A judge should participate in establishing, maintaining, and enforcing, and shall personally observe, high standards of conduct so that the integrity and independence of the judiciary may be preserved.” We believe that Judge Jessie Leblanc has failed to uphold her honorable judiciary commitment to society and has failed to honor the high standards of conduct, which are expected of a judiciary official.
Sadly, Judge Leblanc has the power (and has had the power for the past 8 years ) to take mothers away from children, fathers away from families, and dismantle families. We are asking you to sign this petition to force Judge Jessie Leblanc to step down and to have her past cases reviewed based on bias and racism.
