This weekend would have been my son Daniel’s birthday. Nothing can bring my son back. But if pill testing was around when he was going to music festivals, he might still be here with us today.

Just before Christmas, the NSW Premier announced that pill testing will be starting in NSW.

It’s taken us nearly a decade, but at last we’ve won!

That means that these life saving services will soon be operating in NSW, as well as Victoria, Queensland and The ACT.

By supporting this campaign for pill testing, you have helped keep other young people happy, healthy and alive.

And I can tell you from personal experience - that means a lot!

I’ll never forget the day when the police came to tell me Daniel would never be coming home from a music festival. My world would never be the same.

I felt no parent should have to feel this immense pain and so the quest began to start a conversation about pill testing and get it happening in Australia.

I’ve been telling Dan - we did it, this will be your legacy. Pill testing services will be keeping people safe through education about the dangers of drug use, and how to reduce the risks.  That means other young people like Daniel will return to their families and friends alive.

In declaring this victory, I also want to say thank you to the team at Unharm. They have helped sustain this campaign for so many years, and helped me with media interviews and meeting politicians. I’d encourage you to join their mailing list to stay in touch because there is still more work to be done to make our drug laws fairer and keep people safe. Sign up at https://www.unharm.org/

And thank you for your support - it’s you who made this momentous occasion a reality.

Love and eternal peace,

Adriana B
