The new organisation we’re raising money for is called The Loop Safety Testing and earlier this month I spoke at the launch in Melbourne. That photo is me with Professor Fiona Measham – she set up The Loop UK. She is here in Australia to share her knowledge and experience to help set up a similar organisation here.
The crowdfunder has already helped to bring The Loop UK’s leaders to Australia to work alongside the local team, train chemists and health professionals to do drug safety testing, and get stakeholders on board.
Another $5,000 will help kick off the next stage: writing proposals for the first services, training lead organisers to continue the negotiations with governments, and getting The Loop Safety Testing ready to roll out.
Please give generously. We urgently need an organisation like this in Australia.
Last week two people died at Defqon1 in NSW and the best idea the Premier had about keeping people safe was to close the festival down. I can actually sympathise with that. When I was told that my son had died at a festival, my world fell apart. My first reaction was to try to get the festival shut down too. But when I had time to think about it I realised that wasn’t going to solve anything. It would just push the problems somewhere else.
