Channel 7's story on pill testing on the Sunday Night program last weekend was better than I expected, but it's still hard. My motivation for doing the interview was that I wanted the viewers to understand the anguish I feel daily to know that if pill testing was available, Daniels’ death could have been prevented.
I saw Dr David Caldicott said during the show, “For a parent, I cannot fathom what it must be like to lose a child in Australia knowing that in Australia, everything that could be done to have saved their kid’s life hasn't been done”.
Well that's the reality I'm living with.
Can you please share that footage from the Sunday Night program, and encourage your friends and family to support this campaign?
Our petition has more than 39,000 supporters. I would love to see the campaign get to 40,000 and I'm sure we can do it.
The idea that people who take drugs don't care about the risks is wrong. People are buying testing kits online. The kits aren't ideal at all because they aren't very accurate, but it shows that people want to test their substances.
In Sunday Night's story I was happy to see the actual lab at work, with a spectrometer doing lab grade testing. That it is what I have been petitioning for.
I strongly believe that if this type of testing was available then Daniel would have taken the opportunity to test the substance he had, because Daniel didn’t want to come out of the festival in a body bag.
As a society we have done the sniffer dogs and the overrepresentation of the police at festivals and it isn't working. Deaths are still occurring and it’s just not fair.
Can you please share the petition with your friends and encourage them to join us?
Thanks for your support,
Adriana
