You’ve got a telephone, right? I need you to do something important today. On Tuesday, Victorian Premier Dan Andrews was asked in Parliament if he would support a trial of pill testing in Victoria. His answer didn’t even begin to make sense. He just passed the buck to Victoria Police, as if it’s them and not the politicians who are setting policy. He said... ‘In relation to pill testing, Victoria Police do not support that and neither do I. You can criticise the government and me for that if you choose to, but that is the position that we have adopted, and that is the position that Victoria Police believes is the best in terms of not only law enforcement but harm minimisation as well.’ What? The best we can do is to let the most dangerous drugs circulate freely, to be taken by people who don’t know the real contents? What a complete load of rubbish. It’s insulting that he doesn’t even begin to make sense. And why on earth would it be up to police to decide what’s the right thing to do to protect people’s health? Can you please call Dan Andrews and tell him he needs to reconsider. No more of this head in the sand stuff. It’s time to put the propaganda aside and get pragmatic about keeping people safe. No more of this stigma that says some lives don't matter. The number for his electorate office is (03) 9548 5644. Please call today and let me know how you go by posting a comment on the petition update. Thanks, Adriana
