Hello to all Musixmatchers!

First of all, we would like to thank everyone who has signed and shared our petition. As evidenced by Tim's post on Community Slack, our petition has reached the ears of the Musixmatch team, acknowledging the rapid progress of our petition and addressing the concerns expressed.

Tim mentions that, while Musixmatch denies that the changes to its policies are financially motivated, the company recognizes the importance of its community of contributors and their contribution to the success of the platform.

This recognition is a first step. The company is listening, and this would not be possible without the incredible support we are receiving from all of you. We are on the right track! It just goes to show that our voice is being heard, and with enough support, we have a chance to create real change.

However, the fight is not over. We continue to believe that recent policies, regardless of their motivation, harm both curators and independent artists, affecting the diversity of lyrics available on streaming platforms.

Tim, both in this message and in responses to others, made a claim that we cannot remain silent about: he asserted that our petition is intended to cause division in the community. Well, let me say that this is not correct, what we are looking for with this petition is not to divide the community, nor of course to turn users against Musixmatch. What we want is to re-unite all the people, and recover the good atmosphere that existed before these changes.

Question for Tim and other moderators: aren't you tired of seeing in both Community Slack and Curator Slack people asking why lyrics don't appear in the platforms? Aren't you tired of seeing people talking against these measures? Aren't you tired of seeing how people lose the will to send lyrics because in order to feel that their hours of work are worth something they have to do missions with songs that they simply don't like or don't want to transcribe?

If you really think your community is “invaluable” and you care about it, we simply ask you to listen to it. And we know that what you say is true, because for years you have listened, to a greater or lesser extent, to our suggestions, we are confident that you simply made a wrong decision without asking the opinion of the people it affects.

In order to show that we are not looking to damage the company's brand, but that all we want is to enjoy the music again, we have decided to remove from the petition any reference to what Tim calls “disinformation”, i.e. monetary reasons. We hope that with this, the company will see that our stance is not aggressive, and that we are all looking out for the good of Musixmatch.

Finally, we have seen a request on Slack that we found interesting, as it seeks a middle ground between our request and Musixmatch's new policies. First of all, it is necessary to clarify that the user who posted it has nothing to do with us, but in our attempt to show that we are looking for the best for Musixmatch, we thought it was a good idea to mention it for the team to take it into account: apply a trial period for new Curators, i.e. that Curators during, for example, the first year (or the first 3, 6... months) the now known “quality control” should be established, but that the lyrics of the Curators who have been there longer should be sent to the platforms, since this means that their letters should meet the quality standards.

Before finishing the message, we have seen messages on Slack talking about “fear” of opening the link or signing the petition, users claiming that it is a “scam”, and people claiming that they are afraid that Musixmatch will retaliate against the signatories. Given that, we must ask you not to worry, the collection of signatures is made only for Musixmatch to see the large number of people who do not agree with their new policies, but at no time will we share the data of the signers with the company.

Now more than ever we need your support!
If you haven't already done so, please sign the petition and share it with other Curators. The more voices that join in, the harder it will be to ignore this problem.

We are one step closer to having our concerns taken into account. Thank you for being part of this movement, Musixmatchers!
