Site Chosen for new statue is a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Victorian Gothic and Art Deco Ensembles of Mumbai were inscribed as a World Heritage Site as recently as 30 Jun 2018 after a group of leading citizens pursued the application vigorously for 12 years.Petitioners may visit www.artdecomumbai.com to know more.

The precinct includes 98 buildings and structures including the CSMVS main museum and the DG Police HQ. No new structure can be built within 100m of CSMVS.

The Fort area  in Mumbai is home to the largest collection of Art Deco buildings in the world, other than Miami. This tourist attraction is a source of income and employment to Mumbaikars and should be preserved in its original form.
