More Revelations on Heritage value of Site selected for proposed statue

CSMVS is a Grade I heritage Structure. As per rules, no construction can be allowed within 100 Meters of CSMVS.

The DG Police Office Building facing the proposed location of the statue  is a Grade II Heritage structure built in 1876, as the Royal Alfred Sailors Home. From 1928 it was the Bombay Legislative Council till 1982 when it was converted into the Police HQ. Mumbai Mirror has reported today, 9 Dec, (page7) that expenditure of Rs 17 Cr has been sanctioned for its renovation over the next 3 years. The work will be undertaken by the renowned Conservation Architect Abha Narain Lambah.
