Flagami Neighborhood Tree Planting & Swale Conditions

Flagami Neighborhood Tree Planting & Swale Conditions
The Issue
Our community swales are destroyed by local business employees and apartment complexes parking in our swales. The adjacent homeowners are responsible for maintaining the swales but cannot protect their swales from being destroyed by people parking their vehicles and leaving their garbage. Our community meeting held last week with with Ana Rodriguez confirmed that all local residents in this neighborhood want trees planted along SW 43 rd avenue and SW 44th Avenue and between SW 7th street and Flagler Street. It is unjust to have homeowners responsible for maintaining their swales have to pay for a permit to plant a tree and then have non-residents come and destroy our neighborhoods. We should either be allowed to plant and maintain our trees and not be charged permits or have the city take ownership and accountability of these swales. These permit and zoning laws make it very apparent that the City only cares about permitting fees and fining but not the addressing the issues at hand. This issue is significantly impacting the quality of life of our residents in Flagami.
