It was a busy last day in office for outgoing Pimpri Chinchwad municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi on Monday. Continuing with his tough action against employees and officials involved in alleged irregularities, he suspended three of them and initiated departmental inquiries against 16. He handed over charge to his successor, Rajeev Jadhav, in the evening. During his 18-month tenure, Pardeshi had directed the civic administration to suspend 33 employees and initiate departmental inquiries against 70 others. In Monday’s action, a junior engineer and an executive engineer were suspended for alleged irregularities in the purchase of cables, while another employee was suspended for his alleged involvement in a Rs 25 lakh chit fund scam. A departmental inquiry has been initiated against 13 employees and officials involved in the cable purchase scam. The vigilance department had conducted an inquiry and found them guilty.
