Justice For Siddharth Tignath started this petition to MP Government and

On the 22nd of April 2021, 41 year old dentist Siddharth Tignath stood on a railway track in his hometown of Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh, and chose to end his life. A beloved youth politician, talented doctor and a figure known to the entire district, Siddharth left behind two ageing parents, a wife, and a 6 year old son. Over the past six years, Siddharth had been mentally and financially tortured by a group of local extortionists, illegal moneylenders, and petty criminals.

During a successful career as a youth politician for the Indian National Congress, Siddharth had gained the attention of leaders such as Kamalnath, Rahul Gandhi and was doing his best to improve his local community. Heir to his father's successful medical fortune consisting of a hospital, Siddharth wanted to build his own legacy, and started a paramedical service alongside his existing facilities. Due to worsening finances in India in the aftermath of the demonetisation, the local banking system was unable to lend Siddharth money to support and grow his businesses. Hence, the doctor had to seek help from a local group of loan sharks that ultimately led to his demise. A trusting individual, Dr. Tignath fell into a pit of snakes that took everything from him. Over six years, more than 4 crore rupees were blackmailed out of Siddharth by a vicious circle of people.

Siddharth would borrow money, be charged obscene rates of interest (40%, 50%, 80%,120%), borrowed more, and would be approached by individuals that appeared helpful, but were in reality criminals themselves. These people would propose attractive investment options to the doctor, pretend to be his friends, offer to clear his debt, but would simply disappear with his money. On one occasion, they obtained a couple of blank cheques from Siddharth, which they would threaten to use in case he didn't pay a certain amount of money. Fearing punishment due to bouncing cheques, Siddharth would have to comply. The authorities were of no help, and would simply ignore any of his family's calls to take action against the criminals. At one point, the bandits entered the family home, roughed up Siddharth and would frequently give death/rape threats to the family.

Every single detail of the schemes Siddharth was put through was jotted down in a diary of his, which was recovered after his death. All of his thoughts, the names of the people that tortured him, and the lies he was subject to, are in this diary, which has been published online and is with the police. An excerpt from his diary is as follows:

"Modiji, Kamalnathji, whatever you do, please make a law against illegal moneylenders and extortionists. These people have taken everything from me, and I have no love for the world left anymore. Maybe then there will be a purpose to my life."

The police so far have been sluggish and have not fully cooperated with the investigation, which has attracted the anger of many of Siddharth's followers and well-wishers. It is rumoured that the criminals behind these sharking and extortion schemes are backed by a number of wealthy and powerful politicians.

Keeping this in heartbreaking story in mind, we are demanding that:

- Every person named in Siddharth's diary is arrested and charged with applicable crimes immediately

- The state and central governments tighten their grip on bands of moneylenders/extortionists, and create more stringent laws to prosecute them.

For the sake of the common man, we must achieve justice.
