MOVE the Rink Megaplex!
The Issue
PETITION TO THE MANATEE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
We, the undersigned residents of Lakewood Ranch and Manatee County, respectfully urge the Board of County Commissioners not to build the proposed Project Grace ice rink and sports megaplex in the heart of our 47,000+ resident community. We are not asking you to stop Project Grace. We are asking you to move it to a more appropriate location.
Project Grace is not a neighborhood recreation center. It is a major regional sports and entertainment destination expected to host 200 to 250 events each year, bringing thousands of visitors, tournament traffic, concerts, noise, and nighttime lighting into the middle of established residential communities.
Our homes are where we live, raise our families, retire, and feel safe. We should not have to bear the permanent traffic, public safety risks, noise, and lighting impacts of a regional commercial megaplex when a more appropriate location may exist.
Thousands of families invested their lives, savings, and futures in Lakewood Ranch because of its safety, residential character, and quality of life. Our families deserve to be heard, and our neighborhoods deserve to be protected.

ABOUT ME
My name is Jim Flora, and I am a resident of Cresswind in Lakewood Ranch. My wife, Kathy, and I have been married for 50 years, and we are proud grandparents. We have called the Lakewood Ranch area home for the past 23 years and care deeply about preserving the quality of life that makes this community so special.
Before retiring, I served as a Chief Operating Officer in the pet food industry. Today, I am volunteering my time to help ensure that Project Grace is located in a site that better balances economic development with the interests of the families and neighborhoods that call Lakewood Ranch home.
