The Issue

In our community of Holley by the Sea, a neighborhood where families have been living in peace and harmony, an unsettling change has interrupted our daily lives. The newly positioned Greyhound bus drop-off at the Holley Food Mart has brought with it a wave of disruption, posing a dire threat to our community’s safety and quality of life.

Innocent families, school-going children, and elderly citizens are now facing an influx of strangers often including those freshly released from correctional facilities. Many of these individuals, unfortunately, wander around our streets seeking illegal activities such as drug dealing or panhandling which has instilled fear among us and disrupted our once peaceful surroundings.

The safety and welfare of our residents are being compromised as these congregations lead to insecurity and unease. Parents worry about their children’s safety when walking to and from school, and seniors feel unsafe completing everyday tasks like grocery shopping or attending local community events.

This situation is not just affecting the perception of our neighborhood but has also lowered the communal spirit that took years to build. We’ve seen a rise in petty crimes, and instances of trespassing and disturbances at odd hours are becoming more frequent, which we cannot allow to spiral further.

A viable solution is to relocate the bus drop-off to a more appropriate location away from residential areas. Such a change would still serve the travelers while restoring the peace that our neighborhood desperately needs.

We need urgent action from the local authorities and Greyhound management to listen to our plea and prioritize the safety and wellbeing of the children and families in our community. We urge Santa Rosa county District 4 Commissioner Ray Eddington and the Greyhound management to take immediate steps to relocate the drop-off point to a less intrusive area.

Please join us in this effort to reclaim the safety and peace of our neighborhood by signing this petition. Together, we can restore the serenity and secure environment that we all cherish.

They are going to move. The county assistant attorney is working with Greyhound for me. Rest assured they will be moving.
