Move St Joseph Farmstead to Burns Park

Move St Joseph Farmstead to Burns Park
The Issue
In the wake of losing the historic building to a fire and having our lease terminated by the Diocese of Little Rock, we are determined to continue our growing mission. We have a vision to foster collaborative garden ecosystems in central Arkansas. After careful consideration, we believe Burns Park in North Little Rock is the perfect new home for the St Joseph Farmstead.
Envision a non-profit educational garden, offering a sanctuary of nature, sustainability, and community. Our proposed site at Burns Park will become the largest non-profit educational garden in central Arkansas, with extensive facilities including 100 community garden beds, a greenhouse, four high tunnels, and a food forest abundant with berries.
Partnering with the Central Arkansas Master Naturalists to create a workshop space will allow them to continue to maintain the trails at Burns Park, Pinnacle Mountain, Rattlesnake Ridge and many other sites in Central Arkansas promoting biodiversity and sustainability. This relocation is not just a dream; it’s a valuable opportunity for our city to embrace a project that can enhance community, education, and environmental stewardship.
Establishing St Joseph Farmstead at Burns Park means creating a vital hub that benefits not only the North Little Rock community but the entire region. It's a step towards building a resilient future focused on fostering local food systems and growing community bonds through nature-driven education and engagement.
This project will utilize land not currently used and will cost the City of North Little Rock nothing.
We call upon the City of North Little Rock and stakeholders to support this initiative, as it promises to be an asset to our residents and the natural wonders of our parklands. Let’s work together to make this vision a reality, preserving the legacy of St Joseph Farmstead.
Please sign this petition to show your support for allowing the St Joseph Farmstead to move to Burns Park, securing its place as a pillar of education and sustainability in our community.
