Update: PA Father X
There’s a story behind this petition.
A father currently navigating custody court in Pennsylvania had the idea to start this effort. Because his case is active and he needs to keep his head down, he reached out to the Dads’ Resource Center to take the lead.
But behind the scenes, he hasn’t slowed down.
This father has been actively working to build support for HB1499 — and in large part due to his efforts, the bill now has 71 co-sponsors.
Even more notable, that support is strongly bipartisan:
45 Republicans
26 Democrats
That level of support reflects something important — this is not a partisan issue. It’s about children.
This is not the first time a shared parenting bill has been introduced in Pennsylvania.
A similar bill during the 2019–2020 legislative session had bipartisan support but never received a vote in the House Judiciary Committee.
The Committee has many important bills to consider, but history shows that legislation like this does not always get the opportunity to move forward — even when there is clear support.
That’s where you come in.
We are incredibly grateful for your support in signing the petition, and we are committed to seeing this through. Following the example of PA Father X, there are two powerful ways you can help move this forward:
Reach out to your State Representative.
Share the petition and help bring in additional signers.
If each of us brings in just one more person, this effort will continue to grow quickly.
To support you in those conversations, we’ve created a one-page overview of HB1499. This was shared with members of the House Judiciary Committee this morning.

This effort continues to grow because of you — and because people across Pennsylvania believe children benefit when both parents remain actively involved in their lives.
Let’s keep building — one voice at a time.
In your service,
Jeff
