Ironbark Drive woodford runs from the D'aguilar hwy just outside Woodford to Kropp Rd. It services all the surrounding properties and a huge area around it. This road is becoming more and more busy as the new estate goes in on Montanus Drive. Many trucks and trades travel this road and many truck drivers live in the surrounding area. The first stretch of Ironbark drive drops down from the ridge where the hwy is located into the lower land creating quite a steep hill. It flattens as it runs through a lower density area of larger properties, crosses monkeybong Creek and curves around a blind corner passing a park with a playground and continues through higher density areas. Many domestic stock animals, (including horses, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, alpacas),and dogs and cats live on this stretch of rd, Even more wildlife calls this area home. Ducks of many types, roos, wallabies, hares, echidna, water dragons and many birds species. All of these have been lost to speeding and uncaring drivers many times.

Children walk along this road and school buses stop twice daily. The kids playground is on the blind bend with friendly farm animals that run to the fence directly opposite. Children cross the rd to feed the animals. The creek is a water source for many animals as is the wildlife corridor/easement that crosses the road at that point. Properties owners on this stretch keep the verges neat and mowed low so it is very to see animals and people most of the day. 

Trades, concrete Trucks, delivery trucks with all sorts of building supplies are now using this road with the new estate going in. The area is and will be housing more and more people. Many people are coming from suburban areas and do not understand nor care for the wildlife using the area. In the last 4 days we have lost no less than 9 ducks killed on a 100m stretch of road between two dams. We have also lost a tawny frog mouth, two hares and a young male wallaby. That is a huge toll in only 4 days!!! 

On Thursday afternoon, an emergency vehicle was parked half on the rd just before the bend with lights on attending a fire on a property. Multiple drivers including truck drivers were seen to cross to the wrong side of the rd to pass the truck with absolutely NO REDUCTION IN SPEED!!! Even an emergency vehicle with lights on does not reduce driver's speed or disregard for road rules. 

Horse owners cannot ride or even walk their horses on the wide verges as many drivers refuse to slow down and obey road rules to slow and give way. 

A quick search in the local community Facebook pages shows many many posts warning locals of cows, goats, horses and dogs loose on the road. Stock does get out, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence as they say.... Every owner endeavours to keep their animals contained but these things this happen anywhere. 

Drivers accelerate as they come down the hill from the hwy and as they hit the flat after montanus as they head up to the hwy. The wide verges and flat road make it drive very similar to a hwy. It is easy to exceed the speed limit without thinking. This stretch is becoming a drag strip. The blind corner makes it very dangerous for people and animals crossing. The shadows from the gum trees make it difficult at some times of the day to spot small animals on the verges. 

It is Time traffic calming and speed humps are installed.  Urgently! Spring is coming the wildlife are raising young and the roads are getting more use daily. Speed limit drop to 50km and speed bumps to force drivers to slow down as they come down from the highway are necessary. Wildlife signs will NOT address the problem as no notice is taken of the speed limit signs nor roadwork signs currently.
