More support for individuals with terminal diagnoses in Yorkshire

More support for individuals with terminal diagnoses in Yorkshire
The Issue
Recently my brother, Michael was given a terminal cancer diagnosis of a year to live, at the age of 37 years old.
Michael had regularly been going to his local GP to complain of symptoms before his initial diagnosis, but was brushed off as being ‘lifestyle problems’. Now we are here, been told my brother has only got a year left to live.
As you can imagine as a family we are heartbroken and are trying our best to support Michael with the time he has left. But, with lack of professional support we are very limited on what we can do.
It is known that in Yorkshire, more people are likely to get cancer than in any region in the U.K.
Yet, why is more funding and support offered to services in the South and not the North if the cancer rate is so high in Yorkshire?
I know we are not the only family to be going though this, and I’m sure many of yourselves have had similar experiences. Thats why something needs to be done, something needs to change. That’s why I’ve created this petition today.
More support needs to be given to individuals who have received a terminal diagnosis in Yorkshire. Better treatment for both physical and mental symptoms for terminal diagnosis patients. Better support networks for individuals and families. GP’s actually filling out responsibilities of providing a Duty of Care to its patients.
Please share if you or you know anyone has been affected by something like this, so hopefully changes can be made for our loved ones, so they can get the care they deserve and can make most of the time they have got left.
